20/04/12 Westcombe Park U19 Colts have secured a place in the finals of the RFU’s prestigious National Colts Competition to be held at Franklin’s Gardens, home of premiership club Northampton Saints, as they battled through a hard fought semi-final at Havant last weekend.

Westcombe Park will now represent the County honours in the final against Halifax based Old Brodleians on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May.

This has been a fantastic achievement for the young squad comprising mainly under 18’s with a few 19’s and even 2 under 17’s and is as a result of hard work and commitment from all the squad.

The evolution of the Colts squad this season guided by former Wasps Centre Graham Purdy and supported by the ever expanding Coaching ranks at the Kent based club, has been a remarkable achievement given the early season setbacks through injuries and sharing resources with the under 18 league offensive.

The Colts look forward to expanding their playing ranks next season as they look to at least emulate the achievements of this season. For interest in joining the Combe Academy contact Phil Tagg by email at wprfc-colts@btconnect.com.

22/03/12 Maidstone reach semi final of the RFU Senior Vase
Maidstone Rugby Club are now just one game away from a Twickenham final after winning 18-15 at Newmarket in their RFU Senior Vase London & SE Regional on Saturday.

After trailing 8-5 at half-time, with their points coming from a Jamie Smith try, Maidstone moved into a 15-8 lead through tries by Hayden Mitchell and Ollie Newton. But the Suffolk drew level through a penalty try, only for Newmarket to concede a penalty in the dying minutes and Fedorcio made them pay
