Match Report :- Kent 46 - Sussex 0

Kent came under early pressure from the kick off and it was only a try saving tackle a few meters out that stopped Sussex taking an early lead. A series of five meter penalties were repelled as Sussex tried to run the ball in. Kent took the play into the Sussex half and pinched a ball against the head which was picked up by the number eight who attacked the central defenders the ball making it down the line before Jenny Taylor took a lovely pass from the wing to cut back inside to score the opening try. The second try was very similar off a Kent scrum the ball down the line and Heike Niemand in support to go over in the right hand side corner.
The forwards had by now established a very solid platform allowing the backs to run the ball at Sussex. One of these runs saw the left wing Jess Gregory go round and then through the covering defence to score. The fourth try came from a set piece, a crash ball in the centre was quickly recycled and moved out wide with Laura Theobald in support to take final pass and cut through the remaining defence.
The second half opened with another try for Heike Niemand. Sussex continued to attack through their experienced centre pairing but the Kent covering and tackling snuffed out all of these strong runs. Issy Jorris scored a wonderful wingers try using her pace to go out side her opposite number to touch down. The last two try's both came from tap penalties one close in where Jenny Taylor took a short pass off her fellow forwards to crash over and the last a tap penalty from inside the Kent twenty two which was taken on by the back row linking with the backs and finally Jenny Taylor going over in the left hand corner. Liddie Terry converted 3 of the try's on a difficult day for kickers, her kicking out of hand form penalties kept the whole team moving forward as well.
