defend against their strong running centres, bit with some determined
tackling they were kept out. Kent then settled into their game and started
to breach the gain line and gain the upper hand of the game.
Kent finally opened the scoring when the back line combining well to
pull the Sussex defence one way then sweeping back out wide down the Another extended passage of play saw great interaction between the Kent
backs and forwards with the openside flanker (Papworth) putting the
wing ( Joris) away for her second try.
Sussex opened the second half as they had begun the first with
continued onslaught on the Kent line which finally they managed breach from
short range going over in the corner. Good tackling and team work kept
Sussex from scoring again the Kent forwards tacking a crucial strike
against the head in their own 22 and managed to move the ball up field. From
the next break down the ball was worked up the narrow side Kent
cutting through the Sussex defence and finally some excellent covering
tackles. Kent won the ensuing breakdown on the Sussex 22, the ball going out
